Welcome to Reel Tails with Sweens a podcast by Dwayne Sweeney.
If you haven’t already heard my “Tail” I was a professional rugby player for 20 years. After making my debut for Waikato Rugby at age 17, I’ve since gone on to become a Waikato Centurion, Play Super Rugby for the Chiefs, Represent New Zealand Provincial Barbarians, New Zealand Sevens, New Zealand Maori and played professionally in Japan for 6 seasons. Over my Career I have maintained a healthy offield balance by staying connected to my passions. These are my Family, Friends, Rugby, Hunting, Fishing and my local community. This podcast will be about connecting with “Reel” people that I have been fortunate enough to cross paths with along the way, most of which I’ve formed strong relationships with because of shared passions and or interests. The range of interesting characters will continue to evolve over the podcast as my journey continues. People from all walks of life will share some amazing raw and honest “Tails”. I will also share incredible and difficult experiences that I have personally been through, a “Reel” look at my “Tail”.

“Reel” (Real) – I want this to be “Reel”, raw and honest while exploring people’s journeys and passions. “Reel” because I love a play on words and it “ties” into my passion of fishing.
“Tails” (Tales) – Connecting with and helping good people share their journey and their “Tails” is my main goal through this podcast. “Tails” again a play on words this time “lining up on” my passion for Hunting and my love of sharing good yarns and stories.
“Sweens” (Sweeney) – To the people close to me I’ve always been known as “Sweens”. I aim to show my true self through this podcast so I feel like a longtime friend. I also look forward to sharing my journey and experiences along the way.
